Spruce’s global role

15 December 2008

The role of spruce species in a changing global climate will be discussed at an international conference held in Sweden next autumn.

Scientists, forest managers and policy makers will gather to discuss a range of topics related to spruce forests and spruce management, including timber production, its use for biomass, pests and pathogens, long-term forest development and genetic stocks.

Global warming may also have an effect on spruce stocks, changing site requirements for certain species and seeing new risks develop, which will also be discussed at the conference.

Spruce in the context of global change will be held at the Hotel Tylösand near Halmstad, Sweden on August 31 – September 3, 2009.
