Standing timber sales prices up

Coniferous standing timber sales prices went up by 14% in the year to September 2004, according to figures released by the Forestry Commission.

The standing sales price index, which is expressed in real terms (1996 prices), reveals that the average price for standing timber was £6.19 per m3.

The yearly rise contrasts with the recent downward path in standing sales prices.

Prices in the softwood sawlog index were 0.1% lower, compared with the previous year.
