Stora Enso won’t appeal against collaboration ruling

23 December 2009

Stora Enso says it will not appeal against the ruling of the Finnish Market Court that it exchanged roundwood price information with other forest products companies from 1997 to 2004, although it refuses to accept the judgement was right.

The company was fined €30m for breaching the Finnish Competition Restrictions Act by “exchanging detailed information” with UPM-Kymmene and Metsallitto Cooperative.

Stora Enso will record the penalty as a non-recurring item in its 2009 fourth quarter.
