Three companies awarded Q-Mark

BM TRADA's Q-Mark for High Performance Timber Windows has been awarded to three window manufacturers.

West Port Timber & Window Technology of Mayport, Rotherham-based Bereco Ltd and Wright Joinery of Hull have all achieved the standard and can mark their windows with the Q-Mark scheme label.

The mark is designed to give manufacturers a means of differentiating their high performance windows from the large variety of designs on the market.

BM TRADA product certification manager Simon Beer said: "Architects, specifiers and end users want the reassurance that they are buying a window that will perform throughout its life. The Q-Mark offers them a yardstick against which other products can be measured."

Wright Joinery pursued the Q-Mark because Hull City Council had specified it for regeneration projects within the city. Newcastle City Council has also written the mark into its joinery specifications.
