Timber industry aids Liverpool youth centre renovation

Coillte Panel Products, Meyer Timber and Kronospan have helped in the renovation of a youth centre in one of Liverpool’s most deprived areas for Children in Need.

The Norris Green Youth Centre project saw Coillte donate 600m² of SmartPly OSB3 for the internal ceiling, while Meyer and Kronospan gave 22mm TGF chipboard to create a floor decking for a balcony area, which now forms the club’s new lounge.

The project was screened on the BBC’s DIY SOS: The Big Build for Children in Need and was the programme’s biggest initiative to date.

Meyer Timber managing director Richard Lazenby said he was delighted to be part of such a fantastic project.

“The Norris Green Youth Centre rejuvenation project was such a worthy cause,” said Mike McKenna, director of Kronospan’s Chirk factory. “The materials donated have been put to such a great use; it has been an honour to help.”
