Timber pavilion opens at Oxo Tower

31 May 2019

A timber installation designed to give Londoners an opportunity to introduce a slower pace to their lifestyle has been opened as part of the London Festival of Architecture 2019.

Launched on May 30 and supported by the TRADA, the Timber Trade Federation, the Institute of Carpenters, The Bartlett School of Architecture and The Building Crafts College the Momentto timber pavilion will be open throughout June.

The pavilion is situated in the busy courtyard of Oxo Tower Wharf. Its design highlights three-dimensional spaces through two-dimensional illusions, encouraging visitors to question the volumes of everyday objects.

The installation will have a second life when it is de-constructed and removed by Public Works who will host a two-week workshop for students from Sweden and the UK at R-Urban Poplar in London, which will focus on designing, building and “choreographing a set of tools for performative city-making”. This second story will feature at Tate Modern in late July.
