Timbmet reinvents online ordering

1 May 2010

Timbmet has unveiled what it says is a first of its kind in online timber ordering.

The iPack system (www.ipack.co.uk) was initially launched last summer and trialled with big merchants, but has now been relaunched with a range of new functions and a “different look and user feel”.

The system enables customers to buy the company’s full timber and panels range on the internet, plus its Timbmet Engineered Components doors and flooring range from a total of £20m of stock.

“What sets it apart is that customers can specify what they want on iPack and it then brings up the packs and explains what’s in them,” said Timbmet managing director Wendy Trott. “It can also now be a tool for the merchant to use with their end customers. They can use it to go through various product specifications and it will instantly provide comparative costs.”

The facility is open 24 hours a day and, said Ms Trott, is quick and easy to use.

“iPack has been designed to save customers time and money,” she said. “The online ordering process has been incredibly efficient and merchants can also use it to review their old orders.”

She added that the entire Timbmet sales team had been trained on the iPack system and were available to talk customers through it.

“We’re aware that it’s a totally new way of buying timber for many customers, so we’ve also created an iPack help desk to answer queries,” she said.
