TRA leads Finnish fact-finding trip

Stora Enso Timber has played host to Trussed Rafter Association (TRA) members on a fact-finding trip to Finland.

TRA director Susan Farrow accompanied the 12 members, who included representatives from Simpson Strong-Tie, Scotts of Thrapston, Donaldson Timber Engineering and Wolf Systems, on the tour, which took in Stora Enso's graded softwood production line.

Other mill visits during the trip included Finnforest Kerto, Hartola Glulam, Finndomo and Lauttaniemen Teollisuus Ky, Finland's fourth biggest truss rafter manufacturer.

Finland is an important source of timber to the UK truss rafter market and the visit allowed the UK industry to exchange views and knowledge with their Finnish counterparts, according to the TRA.
