TTF gets accustomed to tropics

16 October 2012

A list designating the types of wood classified as tropical for Customs declarations has been created by the Timber Trade Federation.

The TTF said the list was compiled as an aid to making correct declarations for logs, sawn timber, veneer and plywood.

While duty rates are unaffected by species for sawn timber and veneer, the TTF said rates for species used in plywood varied and required the correct codes.

A Customs tool is available on the TTF website.
