UKTFA announces structure change

The UK Timber Frame Association (UKTFA) is to alter its management structure to create a "stronger, faster-moving business" following the departure of its chief executive.

The association is currently looking to appoint a general manager to handle day-to-day operations at its head office in Alloa, Scotland, while a director of external affairs will "spearhead lobbying and communications".

It said the decision to appoint two new members of staff had been taken with members after former chief executive Bryan Woodley left the post in January.

The new general manager is hoped to be appointed by June, with the director of external affairs in place by the end of the year.

"Our aim is to create a stronger, fast-moving business that supports the members and is better able to exploit the opportunities to grow the market for timber frame construction," said chairman Stewart Dalgarno.

He added that the appointment of a director of external affairs ties in with the growth in importance of communication with Whitehall bodies and that "members agree it's time for the timber frame industry to have its own lobbyist".

UKTFA will also vote in three new board directors at its AGM on May 15 – chairmen of its technical committee, PR and marketing committee and environment and sustainability committee.
