UKTFA welcomes housing code review

22 October 2012

The UK Timber Frame Association has called on the government to work more closely with the construction sector following the formation of a new Housing Standards Review Group and a review of the Code for Sustainable Homes.

A new Housing Standards Review group has been established to look into existing building standards – including the Code for Sustainable Homes – to produce a shorter and simpler version of present rules.

The group will include housebuilding professionals and its review will go to consultation early next year for publication in the spring.

“We accept that the standards that guide government sustainability strategy are a little ambiguous in places and we welcome any simplification that will help support the code’s adoption,” said UKTFA chief executive Andrew Carpenter.
