UPM plans mill curtailments

16 September 2010

UPM’s timber division will curtail its production in Finland during the fourth quarter.

The company said its decision was due to a decreased demand for sawn timber due to seasonal changes. It said demand was estimated to slow down further towards the end of the year.

UPM said the high wood price in Finland had also weakened the business’ cost competitiveness.

UPM had already curtailed its production and closed the Heinola sawmill and Parkano further processing facility during the first half of 2010.
