Ireland’s Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has launched an online service tracking forestry applications to the Forest Service.

The Integrated Forest Information System (IFORIS) internet service allows registered foresters and forestry companies to follow pre-approval, grant and premium applications.

It is available for applications under the Afforestation, Forest Environment Protection Service, Native Woodland Establishment and Forest Roads schemes. It also features digital mapping of grant-aided forestry already planted.

The system an extension of the IFORIS computer system that the Forest Service uses, and will be followed by the ability for foresters and forestry companies to submit pre-approval applications online on behalf of their clients.

“The provision of the online access to IFORIS for approved foresters via the internet is one of the eGovernment initiatives being undertake by the department as part of its current IT strategy,” said agriculture, fisheries and food minister Tony Killeen.
