Wood promotion initiative holds Vancouver workshop

29 August 2009

The International Wood Promotion Network (IWPN) is holding its first workshop in Vancouver at the end of September.

The Network formed following discussions between four national wood promotion campaigns: wood for good in the UK, Wood Works in Canada, NZ Wood in New Zealand and Wood. Naturally Better in Australia.

“It grew out of skype conversations between the four organisations,” said Charles Trevor, former managing director of wood for good, who is continuing his involvement with the IWPN. “We set up an embryonic website at www.iwpn.net and decided that a workshop event where we could swap experiences and discuss the key issues would be a good way of taking the Network forward.”

The event, from September 30 to October 3, will look at wood promotion updates from Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Asia and North America, strategies for growing the market for wood and wood promotion issues specific to climate change and carbon messaging.

It will also include visits to timber-based buildings that will feature in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.
