Woodinfo website provides access to research

7 March 2011

A new website to improve the accessibility of research findings for the UK’s forestry and timber sector has gone live.

Woodinfo (www.woodinfo.co.uk) now provides access to the research of a number of universities, commercial research bodies, Forest Research and the public sector. Their research covers the whole wood supply chain and often contains findings that the wider industry needs to be able to act upon.

“Many of these important outputs are not easily accessible to those that need the information,” said Bob Stubbs, director of the Scottish Forestry Trust, one of the website’s sponsors. “So during 2010 a number of organisations worked together to develop a user-friendly web portal.”

Other Woodinfo sponsors are Forestry Commission Scotland, Scottish Enterprise, UPM Tilhill, James Jones & Sons Ltd (with assistance from Edinburgh Napier University) and ConFor.
