Annual UK import stats show healthy growth

The value of UK softwood imports increased 6.5% to £1.12bn in 2016, according to provisional figures released by the Timber Trade Federation (TTF).

The figure for UK hardwood imports was £279m, a rise of 10% compared to 2015, while the value of hardwood plywood imports went up to £363m, a growth of 5.5%.

The softwood plywood import value decreased 7% to £107m, while particleboard and OSB imports combined increased in value by 9% in 2016. MDF imports were worth £194m, an 11.5% increase compared to 2015.
