Eco-town timber build begins

11 December 2014

Timber systems have begun to arrive at the site of the UK’s first eco-town with plans for deliveries within weeks of the initial 94 homes at NW Bicester.

Stewart Milne Timber Systems is supplying its Sigma II Build offsite manufactured systems for the development, which will eventually comprise 393 true zero carbon homes to be built over the next five years.

“Taking delivery of locally manufactured timber systems is a major milestone for NW Bicester and just the beginning of the initial build programme that will see the first homes completed next spring,” said project director Steve Hornblow.

Alex Goodfellow, group managing director of Stewart Milne Timber Systems, said the development would pioneer the concept of sustainable and energy efficient living for a new community.

“Manufactured offsite, our Sigma II Build System will enable these new homes to be erected onsite with reduced preliminary costs, wind and water tight within five to seven days,” he said.
