France focuses on wood in construction

25 October 2006

The first trade show in France to focus on the use of wood in construction will take place at Paris-Nord Villpinte on November 8-10.

Yves Samama, general manager of Groupe Bois News Media, said the show, called Bobât - short for Bois Bâtiment - will seek to find new solutions for wood construction.

“Building in wood is becoming very attractive, and the general public is reconnecting with the natural and aesthetic quality of this material,” he said.

“Wood is everywhere, and our three magazines, BOISmag, PANOmag and Artisans & Bois, made us realise that there was a real need for a trade show highlighting how to use wood in construction.”

Mr Samama said the show was aimed at all those who chose wood for their projects - from craftspeople, fitters, decorators, architects and engineers to community leaders and private individuals.

Some 120 exhibitors from around the world will be present, demonstrating a wide range of products, and more than 8,000 visitors have already registered, around one quarter of which will be architects. More than 10,000 professional visitors are expected overall.

During the event there will be two rounds of conferences and round table discussions.
