Indonesia promotes SVLK over FSC

17 September 2013

Indonesia’s Ministry of Forestry has said local wood product companies have seen little benefit from FSC certification, according to the International Tropical Timber Organisation’s latest market report.

The ministry said timber companies were better off obtaining Indonesia's timber legality certification scheme - the SVLK.

The ministry's comments follow a recent decision by FSC to end association with Asia Pacific Resources International Ltd (APRIL).
