Jacksons Timber switches to Baumann

5 September 2014

Independent timber merchant Jacksons Timber Ltd has put new Baumann GX55 sideloaders into service at each of its four branches across West Cumbria.

It is a first for the company, both in terms of choosing Baumann, and specifying new machines, as its policy in the past was to purchase refurbished sideloaders.

Jacksons Timber director Paul Mossop said the business had grown substantially in recent years and it was time to upgrade its material handling equipment.

Before making the decision, Jacksons Timber saw the sideloaders in action at one of its timber suppliers, Metsä Wood UK.

“After careful consideration, we felt that Baumann offered us the best all-round package, combining superior build quality with driver suitability and impressive support service,” said Mr Mossop.

Jacksons plans to run the four GX55 5-tonne machines for eight years.

Jacksons Timber, a family owned and run company, was established over 35 years ago and has four branches in West Cumbria, located in Whitehaven, Workington, Calder Bridge and Barrow in Furness.
