Ridgeons shines a light on energy efficiency

15 December 2014

Ridgeons has undertaken a lighting review project across its branches that will save the group 400 tonnes of carbon dioxide.

As part of the project all 26 branches will receive a lighting upgrade, replacing traditional lights with LED lighting.

Nearly 1,500 LED units will be used throughout the whole project, saving energy and improving lighting quality in all the branches.

“We decided to change our warehouse lighting to LED because they are more energy efficient, last longer, and overall cost much less to run,” said group safety & environmental manager Andrew Wilson.

The Cambridge branch on Nuffield Road was upgraded at the beginning of October, and since then the branch’s energy usage has been reduced by a third.
