SCA builds new saw line at Tunadal

2 September 2014

SCA is investing in a new saw line to increase production at its Tunadal mill.

The new line will replace the mill's present three lines and increase annual whitewood production to 540,000m3. Current production is 500,000m3, of which 80,000m3 is planed goods.

The investment will also involve a rebuild of the raw sorting line and increasing kiln capacity.

"This investment will allow us to increase production, but we can also continue to develop a broader product mix in line with market demand," said Ulf Larsson, president of SCA Forest Products. "We will have state-of-the-art production equipment that is easier to maintain."

He added that the investment made Tunadal a new and modern sawmill, from the sorting of logs to the loading of the finished product.
The new line will be built behind the present sawmill and will come on stream in autumn 2016.
