Trade Fabrication Systems receives CE certification to process Burnblock treated solid wood

30 January 2024

Trade Fabrication Systems (TFS) has achieved CE certification (2412-CPR-1041-01) for the decorative coating of Burnblock fire-retardant impregnated wood products.

Certified in accordance with EN 14915:2013, solid wood products treated with Burnblock FR can now be decoratively coated by TFS, giving building designers an aesthetic solution when specifying fire rated panelling and cladding.

Suitable for internal and external applications, the decorative Burnblock system can be finished to any RAL colour.

Following extensive testing, the fire rated system has been certified and shown to maintain a Euroclass B reaction to fire classification under European Standard EN13501-1 when the approved decorative coatings have been factory-applied by Trade Fabrication Systems.

“One of the biggest construction challenges is protecting the integrity of specification when installation takes place on-site. This is especially true where Fire coatings are concerned,” explains Howard Morris, Managing Director, Trade Fabrication Systems.

As the only processor approved under certificate 2412-CPR-1041-01, Burnblock impregnated components are shipped to Trade Fabrication Systems and the decorative coatings precision applied at its Warrington facility. The finished cladding and panelling products are then CE marked, DOP issued and wrapped for safe transport.

“Specifiers now have access to a fire rated system that also has the flexibility to support visually striking designs,” said Mr Morris.

“With any RAL paint specification possible, together with a clear interior use lacquer for plywood, available for interior and exterior applications, it’s an open book for specifiers who need to meet Part B without aesthetic limits.”
