Wood Protection Association announces theme and speakers for 2020 conference

“Making the most of wood to help tackle climate change” will be the theme of the 2020 WPA conference in April with five guest speakers which is preceded by the WPA awards dinner.

Taking place at the Forest in Arden Marriot Hotel in Warwickshire the 6th WPA conference will get underway with a presentation by Ed Suttie on the subject of “In the war on carbon – wood can help us win.” Mr Suttie is Head of Sustainable Materials at BRE (Building Research Establishment).

Mikael Westin, president of the Western European Institute for Wood Preservation will then speak on the subject of “Treated wood – a sustainable choice”.

After a break for lunch Mathias Fridholm, director at Swedish Wood will present “A CO2 reduction campaign to unite the wood supply chain”. Sue Reed, of Reed Consulting, will speak about “Training to sell the benefits of treated wood” and Gordon Ewbank, CEO of the Wood Protection Association, will close the day discussing “Developing WPA strategy on the big industry issues”.

The conference takes place on Thursday 2nd April 2020. It is preceded by the annual WPA awards dinner on Wednesday 1st April at the same venue. For tickets and more information contact the WPA.
