The Thanet branch of independent merchant Chandlers Building Supplies has trebled its stock of timber products to entice builders to purchase wood, as well as heavyside products
The merchant said it had recognised that customers often bought bricks and blocks from the branch but went elsewhere for timber.
The expansion in stock means Chandlers’ timber range will now include skirtings, matchings, planed square edge and mouldings.
Chandlers can now cater for a broad spectrum of requirements from developers who require a direct-to-site delivery of roof trusses through to building contractors who have specific planed timber requirements.
“We had about 20 lines in stock of planed timber products which was far too few so as of Monday we will have over 60,” said John Rose, branch manager at Chandlers in Thanet.
“Timber is being increasingly consumed as people move towards sustainable building so it is important that we recognise the needs of our customers and providing choice is essential in ensuring that all customers get the right product for the job.”
