The Forestry Commission will launch a grants scheme next year to support the sustainable management and improvement of English woodlands.
The go-ahead for the English Woodland Grant Scheme (EWGS), which will also support the creation of well designed new woodlands, follows a public consultation exercise which backed the idea.
A series of seminars to explain EWGS, developed in co-operation with the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, will be held over the next nine months for woodland owners, managers and other interested stakeholders.
