A wood sculpture produced for last year’s TTJ Awards has sparked a new market for Medite MDF – memorial containers.
Designer Mike Sedgwick, who created the awards sculpttures, has set up a company, Memini, specialising in the products as an alternative to the traditional funeral urn.
Mr Sedgwick said the laminated Medite is easier to turn more smoothly than most hardwoods and its colour coding for different MDF types provides additional surface features.
He produces the containers in various shapes, including spheres and pyramids.
