BMF appoints new board members

The Builders Merchants Federation (BMF) has appointed two new members to its board.

Stewart Pierce, financial director of Parker Building Supplies, and Stephen Thompstone, managing director of Buildbase, part of Grafton Merchanting UK, were both elected at the BMF’s regional chairman’s meeting.

Stephen Thompstone joined Buildbase in 1998 and has over 30 years’ experience in the builders merchants industry. He was appointed director of Buildbase Northern Division and a board director in 2004 and managing director of Buildbase Ltd in October 2008.

Stewart Pierce has been with Parker Building Supplies for 20 years as financial director. He has been responsible for the company‘s corporate finance and direction, along with branding marketing and business development. He is also financial director for Parker Ceilings.

Andy Williamson of IKO plc and Dennis Smith of Bradfords Building Supplies will be step down at the next board meeting in June.

The board now comprises chairman Terry Parker; Paul Hetherington, Alumasc Interior Building Products; Stephen Thompstone, Buildbase; Neil Lawrence, Jewson; Allan Bartlett, Keith Builders Merchants; Stewart Pierce, Parker Building Supplies; Chris Pateman, BMF and Peter Matthews, BMF.
