BWF Fire Door Alliance launches campaign
The British Woodworking Federation (BWF) Fire Door Alliance has launched an awareness campaign, Be Certain, Be Certified, to highlight the importance of third-party certification of fire doors in improving fire safety standards across the UK. The campaign addresses a “clear lack of understanding” over what certification is and the vital role it plays in protecting lives.
TANASOTE gains BPR authorisation
TANASOTE S40, Lonza Wood Protection’s new oil based wood preservative, has gained Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR) authorisation for its use as a high performance treatment for the long term protection of heavy duty industrial timbers, such as utility poles, railway sleepers and hard landscaping timbers. Authorisation for Tanasote S40 has now been granted in both Sweden and Belgium. Further authorisations throughout Europe and the UK will follow shortly.
Georgia moves to improve sustainable forestry
Estonian innovative forestry start-up company Timbeter and the government of Georgia have started a co-operation to strengthen the sustainable forestry practices in the country. The goal is to support the digitisation of forest management, and increase efficiency and the transparency of the local forestry sector.
Danzer sells Bradford Sawmill
Hardwood specialist Danzer closed the sale of its hardwood lumber sawmill in Bradford, Pennsylvania on April 15.
Global sawlog price up in Q4, 2020
According to Wood Resources International (WRI), the Global Sawlog Price Index (GSPI) rose 8% in the fourth quarter of 2020 as demand for logs was up in North America and Europe
