Online tool aids Lantra careers advice

5 April 2008

Lantra, the environment and land-based sector skills council, has launched a new online tool to keep careers advice and job profiles up-to-date.

Job Consulter allows employers to comment on the organisation's job profiles and ensure that they are representative of real jobs in the industry before they are deemed "approved", said Lantra.

The approved job profiles are produced for the organisation's 17 related industries, including trees and timber, and offer careers advisers "valid and up-to-date" information.

Consultation was previously undertaken via a paper system and required a longer lead time for completion.

"This has huge benefits to both Lantra and employers as it will help to ensure the sector approved profiles reflect jobs in industry," said Tony Bird, head of business development at Lantra.

"[It will] dramatically speed up the process of consultation and allow the profiles to be released quicker for industry use."

Job profiles for trees and timber, as well as fencing, are up for consultation via Job Consulter until May 9 and May 6 respectively.

Job Consulter can be accessed by registered users at www.lantra.co.uk/jobconsulter.
