Saint-Gobain companies more than double charity target

2 June 2009

The two-year partnership between Together, the charity programme comprising Jewson and sister companies in Saint-Gobain Building Distribution UK, and the British Heart Foundation (BHF), has raised nearly £360,000, smashing its target by more than £150,000.

During the period of the partnership, which ends this month, Jewson staff, suppliers and customers raised money through bike rides, hikes and marathons as well as local fund-raising events. Together has also supported prominent BHF campaigns including the Valentine Appeal and Help a Heart Campaign.

Peter Hindle, chief executive of Saint-Gobain Building Distribution UK, received an MBE in the 2009 New Year’s Honours List for services to the construction industry and charity, including the creation of the Together programme.

"The Together partnership is delighted to have raised such a significant amount for the British Heart Foundation. The partnership has enabled us to get vital health messages out to staff and the people we work with,” said Mr Hindle."

A new charity partner will be announced this month.
