SMTS shortlisted for awards

Working alongside construction consultancy Calforseaden, real estate company Genus Domus and building contractor Kind & Co, SMTS has been shortlisted in the Building Project of the Year under £10m category at the Construction Excellence SECBE awards. 

The company was also a finalist in the Design Through Innovation category in the RICS East of England Awards, for its contribution to The Meadows development in Thurrock, Essex.

SMTS provided the offsite construction of specialist timber systems for the project, which saw a derelict brownfield site transformed into a high-end residential scheme, including nine modern homes for the executive and large family housing market.

A focus of the development was high quality and sustainable dwellings, leading to SMTS being selected as a key partner. 

Collaboration with local residents was an important part of the success of the project, with the contractor working closely with the surrounding communities throughout the scheme’s development. 

The newly-built homes are also currently serving as a pilot project which aims to monitor energy usage and performance. Data collected will be analysed to inform the design and construction of future developments in order to maximise energy efficiency.
