TFS expands offsite door machining offering

Wood-based panel products processor, Trade Fabrication Systems (TFS), has responded to increased industry demand for prefinished doors by investing in specialist equipment that significantly expands its offsite machining capabilities. With the new machining lines fully operational, TFS can now pre-finish doors with hinges, mortice locks, vision panels, drop seals, and lipping.

TFS says this means it can process a blank door and complete all preparations required for hanging using offsite processes. To ensure safe shipping and storage on-site, the doors are packaged and shrink-wrapped, which can be removed immediately prior to installation.

“With the exception of fitting glazing, we are now equipped to handle all door joinery works offsite,” said Howard Morris, managing director. “In doing so, we’re offering a precision finish that saves time, improves quality, and reduces on-site waste.”

The new offering from TFS will help drive construction efficiencies by giving contractors greater control over site programmes as doors can be prefinished and delivered to site just-in-time, said the company.

In addition to machining, TFS can also apply fire-retardant drop seals to doors. This not only assists with smoke containment but can also be used to dampen the travel of sound.

The British Woodworking Federation (BWF) member says its machining capabilities can also be utilised as approved partners in fire door manufacturing.

“Our investment strategy centres on developing new capabilities which address growing market demand,” said Mr Morris. “The expansion of our door offering does exactly that, reinforcing our position as a one-stop shop for high-quality offsite processing solutions.”
