A revolution has taken place in the sales department at Howie Forest Products since the implementation of Progressive Solutions‘ Timber Track software according to sales director Keith Ainslie.
He said the company had 10 criteria when it set out to source the right software. These included live stock control and seamless integration into Howie’s financial package.
Mr Ainslie added: “As we listened to a demonstration about Timber Track I had to sit on my hands. It ticked all 10 boxes on the list.”
Initially Howie, which produces 140,000m3 of timber a year at its Dalbeatie sawmill, installed Progressive Solutions’ Tag Track labelling system which produces labels for each pack of raw and processed timber.
All stock movements and conversions throughout the mill are updated into Timber Track using wireless hand-held PCs to read the labels. Live stock information is always visible on the sales team’s screens.
Mr Ainslie said additional benefits included high inventory and loading accuracy and improved sales analysis and production planning.
