Timbmet has invested £1.8m in revolutionary stock measuring and sorting line installations at its sites in Glasgow, Oxford and Rochdale.

The lines enable Timbmet to mechanically measure and bar code each board and to out-sort to specified width requirements.

The company says this level of selection gives customers cost efficiency improvements including reduced width waste, reduced waste disposal, more accurately measured boards and availability ex-stock of sorted to width hardwoods in the main species and sizes.

The lines use state-of-the-art laser beam interruption technology to measure the width of each board. Selected boards are then out-sorted into one of 18 length and width combinations carefully chosen to provide optimum sizes for the trade to order from ex-stock supplies.

Bespoke selection to customers’ specific requirements is also available with fast track delivery.
