More than 11,000 linear metres of the modifed wood product Accoya has been used in the creation of 21 energy efficient homes in Tweedbank, Scotland.
Accoya cladding was used on the Eildon Housing Association properties, with the product’s sustainability and durability key to its specification. Arnold Laver supplied the timber for the job.
Eildon Housing Association’s Laurance Cox said that it was “delighted with the performance of Accoya” and that its use demonstrated the association’s commitment to using sustainable products and innovative technology.
“There has been a strong response from architects and housing associations, eager to take advantage of Accoya’s significant benefits for windows, doors and cladding,” said John Alexander, head of business development at the UK’s sole Accoya supplier BSW Timber.
“Eildon Housing Association’s positive reports demonstrate the market potential our customers have with manufacture and sales of Accoya timber.”
Eildon Housing Association owns more than 1,700 properties at 100 developments throughout the Scottish borders, including Morebattle, Newstead and Selkirk.
