The American Hardwood Export Council’s (AHEC) annual convention, to be held in Amsterdam, already has 100 delegates booked to attend.

The October 25-26 event will tackle the impact of the Chinese wood processing industry’s growth on hardwood trading and manufacture in Europe.

It will also focus on the promotion of red oak, and the environmental implications and the industry’s proactive response to development of legal and sustainable policies in Europe.

“Our intention is to focus debate and address these interlinking issues,” said AHEC’s European director David Venables. “The US is positioned to be one of the key reliable long-term suppliers of hardwood to Europe and this forum will demonstrate how we are making this happen.”

The convention is open to American exporters and European importers and agents of American hardwoods, including larger manufacturers who are also importers. It is not open to small end users.
