The company has already sold more than 200ft3 of silver spruce since receiving its first 500ft3 consignment of the wood at its Brentwood base.
The timber, described by Vickers director Neil Dixon as light but very strong due to its slow growth rate, has been sold into applications as diverse as vintage aeroplane restoration, musical instruments and for masts in racing boats.
Mr Dixon said silver spruce was used to make famous planes such as the Tigermoth and Sopwith Camel.
