Alsford Timber opened an outlet in Horsham on January 4 – bringing its total in the south-east up to 20.

Managing director John Griffiths – who is leaving Alsford Timber at the end of February to join an organisation within the building services industry – said the latest outlet represents a £250,000 investment.

“It is a leasehold property of about 10,000ft2 with large external storage, and strategically it fits in very well with our network.

“The outlet has an extensive machining centre and a team of six employees.”

Mr Griffiths said 2004 was another important year for Alsford Timber with sales increasing to £32.7m compared to £26.7m the previous year, and he expects the growth to continue.
