Ante Group to bring additional focus on UK market

German sawmiller the Ante Group is planning a fresh focus on the UK and Ireland timber market, with new recruits and initiatives designed to raise the profile of its longstanding brand.

The Group, founded in 1927 and which operates across six sites in Europe, produces sawn & planed timber, KVH, glulam, cross-laminated timber (CLT) and garden products, has recently recruited Wayne Probert to be its UK & Ireland sales and development director. It is also planning to become a member of Timber Development UK (TDUK).

Mr Probert, who formerly worked for Binder Holz, said the company was looking at growing its sales of CLS, battens, carcassing, KVH, glulam, garden products and CLT in the UK.

“The focus will be on developing long term customer relationships with UK distributors,” said Mr Probert.

Ante Group has a sawn production in the region of 1.5 million m3 and last year expanded by acquiring an additional mill facility in Rötenbach-Friedenweiler in the Black Forest.

Its other three German mills are based in Hessen, Saxony Anhalt and North-Rhine Westphalia.
