The growing presence of Baltic timber imports at the Port of Liverpool has been recognised with the naming of InterPort Logistics’ Huskisson Dock facility as the Baltic Timber Terminal.

A partnership of Sonae Industria and Wessex Shipping has been operating in Liverpool for many years importing Baltic timber cargoes.

The venture, called Sontrade Lines, operates a service from Riga three times a month, a fortnightly service from Aveiro in Portugal and is establishing a service from Klaipeda.

Meanwhile, Grove, which runs the the Port of Liverpool’s Royal Seaforth Forest Products Terminal and another forest terminal at Vittoria Dock, Birkenhead, is to focus all its deep sea timber shipments through Liverpool. This includes east and west Canadian services run by Gearbulk, plus Gorthon Lines and Star Shipping.
