An international conference focusing on the development of Beijing in the run-up to the 2008 Olympic Games will be held in November.

Constructing Beijing 2008 will be held at the New Century Hotel, Beijing, between November 13-14 and is aimed at architects and engineers.

The Chinese government, which has set aside US$102bn for construction projects over the next five years, is dependent on support from the international building industry to carry out its Olympic plans.

Messe Frankfurt is organising two new events to run parallel to the conference – the International Exhibition for the Design, Construction and Maintenance of Sports Venues (ARENA) and the International Exhibition for Intelligent Traffic Systems, Public Design and Parking (IPP) – to be held at Beijing Exhibition Centre from November 13-16.
