Five state forestry officials and two other men have been arrested in Indonesia for alleged involvement in illegal logging in Borneo.

The five forestry officials are accused of issuing fake logging rights documents while the two men were arrested for transporting about 2,995m3 of illegal logs in West Kalimantan province. They were unable to show logging rights documents for the timber to the police.

Altogether, 79 forestry ministry officials have been detained since January for backing illegal logging operations.
