Kitchen and bedroom door manufacturer Browns 2000 is completing a multi-million pound investment in machines at its 160,000ft² factory in Northumberland.
Among the recent additions installed and commissioned by the SCM Group is a Stefani Solution Slim Line single-sided automatic edge-bander, a Sergiani pressing line with high-frequency glue curing and a DMC wide-belt sander.
The latest installation is a Mahros loading and unloading system for three of Browns’ existing SCM Ergon CNC machining centres, followed by and linked to a DMC wide-belt sanding machine for MDF doors with unloading facility.
The Stefani edge-bander was purchased to edge band high gloss kitchen doors as an alternative to membrane pressing of the company’s vinyl-wrapped doors. The patented Slim Line system includes a Nordson PUR gluing system that applies the glue to the edging material rather than the panel.
To provide a one-stop business Browns has also diversified into the machining and bevelling of glass, and providing granite and marble worktops using machines from other SCM companies.
