David Gilbert and Martha Thompson of BDO were appointed joint administrators of the 150-year-old Colchester-based importer and distributor on April 17 and the company ceased to trade, with all 26 employees being made redundant.

“CF Anderson Timber Products had a long history, but unfortunately a decline in sales and difficult trading conditions have significantly affected the business,” said David Gilbert, BDO business restructuring partner.

“The joint administrators are taking all necessary steps to mitigate losses to customers and, going forward, will seek to maximise recoveries for the benefit of all creditors.”

The company had more than 1,000 product lines and stocked timber, worktops, plywood, MDF, and claddings, being a specialist in decorative melamine and high-pressure laminate.
