An architectural competition to find new solutions for the construction of high-density, low-rise residential dwellings using wooden construction is under way in Finland.

It has been organised by the City of Helsinki, the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Finnish Forest Foundation and Wood Focus Finland in co-operation with the Finnish Association of Architects.

The competition area is approximately 15ha in the Myllypuro section of Helsinki, complementing the current residential area.

The competition, which ends on December 2, is open to all designers from Finland and the EU or from countries that are covered by its procurement legislation and that have the right to work as architects in their own countries.
