Daltons has put a Lake District timber and joinery supplier back on the road to recovery following a serious flood.

The Brigham-based timber businesses of brothers Billy and Jim Paterson were flooded to a depth of several metres when 36 hours of continuous rain struck last November.

Daltons kitted out Paterson with a new Stenner ST100R band resaw and replacement electrics for an existing Stenner log saw together with refurbishment work on a number of other joinery machines.

An adjoining workshop belonging to Jim Paterson was re-equipped with new Sedgwick woodworking machines including a spindle moulder, sawbench, planer/thicknesser and tenoner, together with new dust extraction equipment.

The Paterson brothers’ business comprises Billy with his wife Pat specialising in timber supply and fencing manufacture and brother Jim and his son Raymond making and supplying joinery products.

“Business sometimes comes to us by unusual means and serious flood damage is perhaps not an obvious one but we were delighted to have the opportunity of playing our part in assisting both the Patersons in getting their businesses operational again in the shortest possible time,” said Daltons’ Alex Dalton.
