Industrie Forestière d’Ouesso (IFO), a subsidiary of the Danzer Group in the Republic of Congo, has passed an independent legality audit carried out by SGS.
The legality of production certificate confirms that all timber coming from IFO’s concession is verified legal. IFO does not source, trade or process any timber from outside its concession.
Passing the audit is seen as a major step on the way to full certification according to ISO 14001:2004 and other credible forest certification schemes.
The sustainable forest management plan prepared by IFO is awaiting approval from the Congolese authorities.
The Danzer Group’s other major subsidiary in the Congo, SIFORCO, will undergo a similar SGS legality audit shortly.
