Garden decking is set to have another year of bumper sales, according to Howarth Timber Importers Ltd which markets the Arbordeck range.

The company says its doubling of sales in 2001, coupled with the Timber Decking Association‘s estimate of minimum £50m UK sales this year and rising consumer awareness of decking, point to another year of growth.

Terry Blackwood, decking business manager for the Arbordeck division, said some in the industry were waiting for the decking bubble to burst but he believed now was the time for stockists to establish themselves as decking experts using an established product backed by brand marketing.

Howarth forecasts its decking sales to rise by as much as 50% again in 2002 and a composite decking product, TimberTech, made of woodwaste and virgin polymers will be launched.
