PATA distributed its product brochure and had samples of cladding, CLS and decking profiles on stand. Its first shipment of products arrived in the UK recently.

Director Atis Kalnins told TTJ the sawmiller was actively looking business on the UK market.

"The UK market is really low at the moment, so that’s a good point for us to start," he said. "We are talking with potential co-operation partners in the UK."

Mr Kalnins said PATA’s control over the log procurement (it has its own forests) and timber production processes, allied to FSC certification, meant it could offer an effective service.

Traditionally, PATA’s production has been exported to the likes of Japan, Korea, Germany and Russia.

Pata operates three sawmills, with a monthly production of about 25,000m3.
